South Africa is another country that exempts UK passport holders from visas. This applies to tourists staying in the country for 90 days or less.

Some 450 thousand UK residents make the trip currently, and they were joined in 2007 by the Rugby World Cup. Sport is a big deal in South Africa, and with the success of the Springboks, the upcoming British & Irish Lions tour in 2009 and the football World Cup in 2010, that is set to continue.

It's not all rugby and football though, South Africa has much to offer those who take the trouble to travel there.

South Africa is well served by the major airlines with Lufthansa, Air France / KLM and South African all showing good availability.

Return flights between London and Johannesburg currently price at around £550, with flights to Cape Town adding around £100 to that amount.
